Legends in Concert at Harrah's Las Vegas he most sincere form of celebrity flattery About the Legends in Concert: Legends in Concert is the longest running, independently owned production on Las Vegas Boulevard. The show has been around for 25 years - that's legendary itself, considering that Vegas shows typically run for one year.Part of the shows appeal is the revolving talent roster. On any given night, you might see the spitting images of such legends as Jay Leno, Barry White, Dolly Parton, Bette Midler, Madonna, the Temptations, Elvis Presley, Cher and more. The night I visited, a pseudo-Elvis Presley swiveled his hips, working the crowd into a heated uproar as he sang "Suspicious Minds," and, of course, "Viva Las Vegas." A faux Tom Jones performed "Delilah," while his fans swooned. And a Bette Midler impersonator had the skeptics wondering if the real Divine Ms. M had entered the room. The talent is as dazzling as the ornate costumes - there's no lip synching at the show, and each performer has spent years perfecting the way they walk, talk and even breathe in order to truly become their namesake. From the backup singers and dancers to the live orchestra, all set against the backdrop of a multi-tiered showroom with cushy round booths, Legends is a trip back to the old days of Vegas. An interesting piece of trivia: You may have noticed that some of the names listed above, like Bette Midler, Cher and Elton John frequently perform in Las Vegas - the original artists, that is. It's customary in Legends concerts to schedule the tribute artists so that they don't coincide with those they're imitating. So if the real Bette Midler is performing across the street at Caesars Palace, the not-so-real one can expect to have the night off. Who needs the competition, right? Show Times for Legends in Concert: Monday through Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and 10 p.m.
